Welcome to 2017 in Amazing Room 8!

Kia Ora, I am Whaea Sheena the teacher in Amazing Room 8! I am very excited to begin working with all the tamariki and whanau in Room 8 this year!
I am originally from the United Kingdom and have been living in New Zealand since 2001 and in Rotorua since 2002. I have family here so that was my initial motivation to come here and now I am very much at home in this paradise and loving being part of the team at Otonga school for the past 3 years.

I have two children; Hine who is 18yrs and Triston who is 8yrs and is in Year 4 at Otonga this year. I also have a dog called Cole who is 1 yrs old and loves going for walks and swimming at the lake. I have included some photos below:

In Room 8 we will be learning how to show manaakitanga (caring) to ourselves, others and the environment. We have a friend to help us with this; our class mascot Ruru, who will be coming to your house for a visit sometime this term. We will also be learning lots about  ourselves, each other, and the world. As well as having heaps of fun!
I am very much looking forward to getting to know you all,
Aroha Nui,
Whaea Sheena
